Essential Information
-
To apply, you must meet the co-op's needs regarding family size, income, skills, and willingness to actively participate in community management. A commitment to co-op principles and some volunteering experience is preferred. If you meet these requirements, you're welcome to apply!
-
The monthly housing charge functions like rent, covering the co-op's operating expenses, and may vary yearly. Note that it does not include utilities like heat, hot water, and phone services.
-
Most members pay full housing charges, but lower-income households may qualify for a subsidy, set at 25-30% of gross income, if funds are available. Subsidized applications are considered after one year at market rates.
-
Applicants' incomes are verified to ensure they meet market membership criteria. Income details are listed on the application form.
-
Members must commit to a minimum of four volunteer hours per month to help maintain affordable housing costs. Regular attendance at general meetings (75% minimum) is also required.
-
Pets are allowed! Discuss our pet policy with the interview team.
-
Meetings are held every two months, giving members a chance to vote and voice opinions. The Annual General Meeting is in the fall where Board elections take place.
-
Your unit size depends on your household size—one person or couple per bedroom.
-
After a successful interview, you'll be placed on a waiting list. Wait times vary, and you can decline an offered unit up to three times while remaining on the list. Wait list is currently closed.
