Apply to become a member

Our waitlist is closed, and we are not accepting new applications.

When our waitlist is open, follow these steps to apply:

  1. Download the application form.

  2. Fill out the form completely. We can only review applications that are fully completed.

  3. Include a $10 non-refundable application fee. Please pay by cheque or money order made out to H.W. Flesher Housing Co-operative.

When you apply, your application will be reviewed by the Membership Committee. If everything looks good, you may be invited for an interview. It's important to note that everyone who will be living in the co-op must attend this interview. The final decision on whether your application is accepted or rejected is made by the Board of Directors. Before you receive final approval, a credit check will be conducted for all applicants.

We understand that you might be curious about your position on the waitlist or when a unit will become available, but we kindly ask that you refrain from calling us about this. Wait times can vary greatly due to unpredictable vacancy rates and the length of the waitlist. While you’re waiting, please keep us updated on any changes to your application. If your address, phone number, household size, or income changes, let us know in writing.

If you receive an offer for a unit, you will need to purchase shares in the co-op using a money order or certified check. Please remember that there’s also a non-refundable fee of $25 for the credit check. If you decide to leave the co-op, your shares will be refunded, minus any money owed to us.

Before moving in, you'll need to provide proof of contents insurance, and you must renew this proof each year thereafter. The Membership Committee can provide you with information about this requirement when you meet to sign the lease.
